Homage to Spain: I love the manliness shown by Spain over Catalonia

SHARE
I love the manliness shown by the Spanish government over Catalonia. If only David Cameron hadn't given Scotland a referendum on independence Britain could take the same line with Scotland but now a precedent has been created. I wish Mr Blair and Sir John Major had been equally manly with the IRA rather than making peace with them. They were on the point of being largely defeated when the peace process started.

  1. If you are cheering on the left-wing Spanish state then its shows how superficial your professed conservatism is. If the Spanish government showed some true manliness it would repel the Sub saharan invasion with the same aggression as it has shown its own citizens. Instead it is presiding over the demographic replacement of its own population. You frequently cite Douglas Murray and complain about how the current social and political order is destroying Euope then the next minute you support the militant defence of that order in a knee-jerk fashion. Is it perhaps because Spain has a rubber-stamp monarch and thats what you like about it? An intelligent conservative would welcome something like national seperatism as it creates more chaos and something that disruptive to the destructive EU status quo is a good thing.

    1. I agree that Spain should certainly show manliness in resisting influx of immigrants. I do not see an independent Catalonia in the EU as weakening the EU. The recently dismissed Catalonian government was extremely globalist like the SNP.

    1. Your view of Spanish manliness is laughably out of date. In reality Spanish men have had their balls totally ripped off and psychotic misandry is enshrined in law. http://honeybadgerbrigade.com/2016/02/18/spain-gender-laws-a-country-against-men/

  3. What's so manly about ordering some employees to rough up a political opponent, when there is zero risk to you (both physically, and politically)? Mariano Rajoy is no Winston Churchill, nor Generalissimo Franco - those guys risked ending up at the gallows with the decisions they took. Rajoy is just another forgettable, public-contract guzzling politician.

    1. It helps if you are British and heir to a long tradition of resisting Irish disaffection - though half my family is Irish 150 years back.

    2. But though the reactionary Spain of history is close to my heart my reasons for backing Spain are about legality.
